Chen deqing, an industrial arts master and ceramic art expert of Changde sculpture research institute, Dehua county, Fujian province. In 1987, the people’s government of Fujian province entitled Chen deqing “Industrial Arts Master”, “Ceramic Art Expert” and “Model Worker of Fujian Province”. Chen deqing was born in one of the world famous ceramic capital---Fujian Dehua. He was industrious and eager to learn from a child, and successfully took over the mantle of his father Chen qitai---a famous ceramic sculpture master. In the 1970es, Chen deqing worked as a designer at Fujian Dehua ceramic factory for a long time. In the 1980es, he went to Fujian Industrial Arts School to advance his art accomplishment. Chen deqing is good at summarizing and learning from others’ merits through his long-term creation practice. He created various, elegant “Jianbai” ceramic sculptures and “eggshell” ceramic series with great concentration. This makes brilliant contribution to the development of Dehua ceramic sculpture.
